Housing Starts Best in Nine Months

Initial jobless claims printed at the lowest level in two months; continuing claims remain elevated. Housing starts posted the best number in nine months. The US treasury will announce the amount of 2yr, 5yr, and 7yr notes that will be auctioned next week later this morning. Right now, the futures market is pricing in a 96% chance that the Fed keeps rates somewhere between 0% and .25% through December 16th, 2009. Currently, the Ten Year yield is at 3.435% (3.40% yesterday) and the 2-10 yield spread is at 248bps, flattening 2bps since yesterday morning.
